HiLoad by EULER – Made in India Battery Electric Commercial Vehicle
Euler (pronounced Oiler and named after Leonhard Euler) motors private ltd., a New Delhi based automotive tech start-up with a focus on commercial electric vehicle segment, is developing and currently testing it’s very first vehicle ‘HiLoad’. We were able to capture the vehicle on the roads of Delhi and were attracted towards the vehicle which is on its’ way to be launched as early as by January 2021.
Government of India had recently shown interest to ban 2 & 3 wheelers based on Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) by 2025 and 2023 respectively but due to market pressure Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had to come out with a statement that there is no need for a timeline on ‘switching to electric vehicles.’ The minister of MoRTH, Mr. Nitin Gadkari said that India will be global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles within 5 years.
As per Euler’s website the company is ‘Inspired by the work done by Tesla’ and is ‘committed to accelerate India’s transition to sustainable mobility’. They also say that they aim to become the category leader for cargo transport by driving the Electric Vehicle Revolution in India. The test vehicle is being used by companies like Big Basket, Ecom Express, Blue dart – to name a few.
The company thinks that it is the right time to enter market with a product which does not only promotes Government of India’s initiative of ‘Make in India’ but also helps in achieving ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Also, it is worth mentioning that Government of India has already committed to reduce pollution and is promoting Electric Vehicles and Euler is indeed doing a favour not to the government but to nature also.
The company states that their products are environment friendly as they are Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) with fewer moving parts when compared with a regular diesel-powered vehicle. With an electric vehicle in use the cost of ownership reduces as a regular diesel vehicle runs at ₹ 2.5/km whereas an Euler vehicle runs on ₹ 0.6/km with a payload capacity of 1-1.5 ton.
If one goes by the test vehicle then it has a very good space management with entering and exit from the vehicle is not an issue even if the person is at least 6ft. in height. The front suspension is different from what we have seen in the past on existing commercial three wheel-based vehicles. Also, for the very first-time projector headlamps are put on a commercial three-wheeler.
Euler is lead by Mr. Saurav Kumar who was able to convince Inventus capital India and other funders like Blume Ventures, Jetty Ventures India Investments (Singapore) and raised almost Rs.35 crore.
